This is our favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe. They are thick and chewy like the ones from a bakery or coffee shop.
Thick & Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 2 c. plus 2 TB flour
- ½ tsp. baking soda
- ½ tsp. salt
- 12 TB butter, melted
- 1 c. brown sugar
- ½ c. sugar
- 1 egg, plus 1 egg yolk
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 ½ – 2 cups chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 325. In a bowl, mix dry ingredient. In mixing bowl, combine butter and sugars until well blended. Add egg, yolk, and vanilla. Batter will appear slightly greasy. Add dry ingredients, until blended. Add chocolate chips. Scoop in ¼ c. balls onto cookie sheet. I use an ice cream scoop. Place 6 on each cookie sheet. You should only place 6 per sheet because these are large cookies and they spread out. Bake for 15-18 min.

Well I had to stop by and comment because my name is Lynn and I am also known for my prize-winning chocolate chip cookies! My prize wasn’t nearly as good as yours — I got not money but the blue ribbon in our county fair a few years back. Your cookies look delicious! Thanks for sharing
I made your recipe and took a dozen of them to the office. I kid you not, they were gone in 15 mins!! These cookies are SOOO good! TFS

Thanks for sharing this recipe . . . I may have finally found the keeper chocolate chip recipe after trying several recipes over the years. I made them smaller and baked them for 8 minutes. Yum!
@Rebecca R., I am so glad that you enjoyed the cookies. Thanks for letting me know.
We bake these anytime we want a cookie treat! They are SO good! I made them for my sister’s birthday and everyone kept saying how yummy they were.
Can this recipe be used for a giant cookie? Like the ones at the mall? Hosting a get-together soon and wanted to know. Thanks!
