New Favorite Food Site

October 23, 2008

Thanks to The Frugal Mom I found a new cooking website. It is from King Arthur Flour. I knew that King Arthur had a great site that contained a lot of good recipes. But what I did not know was that they have a great cooking blog. It is full of good ideas and recipes.

I have spent a little time the last few days looking around this site. And I can’t wait to read some more of the great ideas. I hope to find some ideas for cooking healthier, especially using whole wheat flour.

So far I have seen a couple of recipes that look really good. This Coffee Cake recipe looks great. It does not look healthy but it looks good. Actually, I think you could add some whole wheat pastry flour to it to make it at least a little healthier.

So, if you want some great ideas check out the recipes at King Arthur Flour and King Arthur Flour Blog. They are both great.

I just went there and it looks so yummy! I’m going to add it to my favorites. I think the potatoe crust quiche looks quite amazing.

Lynn, thank you so much for your nice comments about our company, site, and blog. Coincidentally, I’ll be posting a blog next week on whole-grain cookies, and one the week after that on whole-grain ciabatta, so get your white whole wheat ready! Thanks again – PJ Hamel, King Arthur Flour baker/blogger

I had to laugh when I saw that you visit the Frugal Mom website after I looked at the post of your new closet pantry full of name brand foods.

I do like frugal sites. I enjoy and try to save money. But I do buy a lot of named brand goods. Not all name brand, some of the items in the picture come from Aldis. I have so many name brand items because I buy them on sale. When I find peanut butter on sale for a really good price and I have some coupons, I buy as many as I can. When I find canned tomatoes or canned fruit on sale, I buy enough to last a while. This saves me money in the long run. Why buy walmart brand canned goods, when I can find name brand items on sale at or below the same price as Walmart. I also cook the majority of my food from scratch, which save a lot of money. Being frugal is about saving money. We can all go about it differently.
