We have bought or recieved as gifts quite a few kids cookbooks over the years. A lot of them are just not things we cook. Some recipes in them just don’t sound good at all, and some are way to hard for kids to help with.
Several years ago I bought Williams-Sonoma Kids Baking Cookbook. This has become my favorite kids cookbook. Mainly because it has recipes for things we actually want to eat. It is also designed in a way that appeals to kids. It has lots of pictures and it explains things very well. It also has a glossary in the back with pictures of tools. It also has several pages containing information about cooking terms like chop, grate, crush, boil, and more.
I think this cookbook is geared mainly for 8-12 year olds. I still would not turn my 10 year old loose in the kitchen with this book, but there are a few recipes they could manage with little or no help.
I enjoy having a cookbook like this because it helps get kids interested in cooking. It gives them their own book to pick recipes from and it shows them each step. This kids cookbook works for me.
