Meal Planning Monday

I was not able to do much baking last week, but I hope to have more time this week. I have several recipes that I would like to try.

I was able to get chicken on sale last week, so you will see that on the menu twice. One of the stores in my area advertised a good deal on chicken. The ad said “fresh chicken.” I went to the store, and I could not find the chicken that was on sale. I found someone that worked in the meat department and asked him about it. He took me to where the sale chicken was, and it was frozen. I said, “No, I mean the chicken that is on sale.” He replied, “This is the chicken on sale.” I showed him the ad and said, “I want the fresh chicken.” He said to me, “This is it. This is fresh, freshly frozen.” Then he walked away.

I guess the meaning of fresh has now changed. I did buy the chicken anyway, because it was still a pretty good deal and I wanted chicken, but I think that was a little misleading of an ad. Fresh should be fresh, not frozen.

So here is my meal plan for the week including my freshly frozen chicken.

Breakfast

eggs and applesauce bread

yogurt and applesauce bread

cereal

Lunch

sandwiches

leftovers

whatever else I can come up with :)

Dinner

steak, bread , and vegetables

oven roasted chicken, rice and vegetables

pizza

crockpot chicken and dumplings

Pioneer woman’s Pork Roast, beans, and tortillas

chili and cornbread

out or breakfast for dinner

  1. Hi:)
You have a great blog, every time I look through your recipes I end up hungry! lol
I read your “about me” section your husband hunts, does he hunt deer? I was wondering if you have any venison recipes. It’s deer season here in Kentucky and I have a whole freezer full of venison and to be honest I don’t have a single “tried and true” recipe.

I really enjoy your recipes, thanks for sharing them!

  2. Ugh on the freshly frozen chicken! :(

    The applesauce bread sounds yummy!

  3. I think the deer and hunting question would make a great post. So, stay tuned I will try to get that up later today.

  4. Hi :)

I was wondering if you could post or email me your recipe for crockpot chicken and dumplings. Now that the colder weather has descended, I have a real taste for them, but have not found a recipe. Thanks for your time, I appreciate it!

  5. Grocery store adventures! I have quit buying meat at Wal-Mart (the ONLY grocery store in the area) and now buy it all from the butcher shop. SO much better! And fresh chicken is really FRESH there. :)
I’m going to try the applesauce bread as muffins, using apple butter instead of applesauce. Might have to cut down on the sugar a little. I have lots of canned apple butter. :) ~~Rhonda
