These are very helpful and easy to use tips, these tips are really great, nice concept. Even I am trying to lose weight but because of time constriction I am unable to follow any weight loss program. But now I would like to try these tips.

Awesome advice Lynn! I put on 40lbs from my girls and have struggled to get it off and keep it off. I have 30 more to lose, but even if I lost 15 more I could be content. My desire is to be healthy. My hubby and I now workout 4 days a week, sometimes 5. I bought an exercise ball because I really like them.

We don't do pop or juice in the house unless we have company or we have OJ. Though I have a real coffee weakness. I usually try to eat off of a salad plate because this helps me with portion control. I also try to let my body tell me when I'm hungry, and eat then.

I wish I didn't have to worry about losing weight, but I do, and even though I really don't like exercise, I like the results it brings, so I'll keep at it.

The other day I bought some jeans and thought I'm going to try on a 12 just to see if I can get into them. I got them on but they were tight. I thought "wow, I'm maybe 10 pounds away from them fitting nicely, I can do this". For now I'm still a 14.

My goal is to be able to consistently lose 1-2 pounds a week. I'm sure I'll have more success keeping it off if I do that.

I agree--it's easier to lose 5 lbs now than 20 lbs later. That is totally my philosophy. I have a certain weight that I am comfortable with, and once the scale goes above that, I cut back a bit, and things return to normal. One thing I do when I notice the scale going up, is I record everything that I eat. It's a lot like making yourself write down where your money is going to prevent mindless spending. Writing it down prevents mindless eating, and those calories that "don't matter" really add up by the end of the day. It just makes me more aware of what is going in my mouth.

This is a fantastic post. I think I'll give the pedometer idea a try. I homeschool my 3 kids, and then teach piano in the afternoons, so I don't have a lot of time to get out and exercise (and I am NOT a morning person), but I can easily see myself getting up and even walking in place during the day. Thanks for the encouragement.

I made a goal to lose 20 pounds this year (hopefully it'll take me only a few months) because I've gained 20 pounds over the last 18-24 months. Like you, I've never really had a major weight issue, and I'm tall as well so I hide it well, but it's amazing how much better I felt 20 pounds ago!
