I recently got the book as a birthday gift (off my wish list), and mixed up my first batch in a gallon-size pitcher! It works great, because it's not airtight, and it is food-grade plastic. I have only baked one loaf from the batch so far, but I am excited about the easy method. Great to hear about the "sequel" coming out, too!

I check that book out of the library (after being on the wait list for a few months) and thoroughly enjoyed it. My biggest dilemma was finding a container large enough to store it in the frig, but never got motivated to try and find one, so the book went back to the library. I'm hoping when I get a little more spare time (ha!) I'll give it another go round...thanks for sharing your container, it gave me some good ideas!

For anyone who might be dying to try these recipes, Mother Earth News magazine did a fabulous feature on this method. Instructions and some of recipes are found here: http://www.motherearthnews.com/Real-Food/Artisan-Bread-In-Five-Minutes-A-Day.aspx

But after I tried this, I was so sold that I had to go out and buy the book. My favorite "extra" to make with this recipe is english muffins. We make those all the time! And pizza. We also make pizzas on the grill with this recipe. What a great recipe and new method! It makes bread possible to those of us with little time on our hands. I just use a big mixing bowl and put a plastic grocery bag over mine so the dough has room to rise. It works like a charm!

Wendy, I checked and the buckets I use hold 20 cups of water. But they are plenty big. I think you could use something quite a bit smaller. I like Jennifer's idea of an ice cream bucket.

I love that book and grieved when I had to give it back to the library; they only let me keep it for 2 weeks. Guess what's on my wish list now? I use an ice cream tub for my dough. It's food grade, has a lid, was free, and my kids were thrilled to eat all the ice cream.

That cookbook is on my wishlist, especially after reading how much you like it! I can hardly wait until it gets here ... how big are the buckets that you are using? Thanks for all of your interesting posts, recipes and ideas. I really enjoy your blog.
