Homemade Chocolate Whipped Cream

I have been making homemade chocolate whipped cream for years. It is so good and it can be used for many different things. Now this is not the healthiest thing to serve, but for a special treat during the holidays this is great.

I used this for the dessert that I made for Thanksgiving. I made extra so that we could have some to serve in my Tres Leches Hot Cocoa. Everyone really enjoyed it when I served that way. Some even used it in their coffee, which they thought was really good.

This would be easy to make up and serve with coffee and hot chocolate during the holidays.

I have used this on Angel Food Cake and served it with berries. I have used this as a type of frosting on several cakes. It also makes a great topping for pudding pies.

No matter what you use this for it will be good.

  3. It’s so simple yet such a treat. I can see that as being a real winner. Thanks for linking up.

  4. That whipped cream looks like ice cream! I’ve never even thought of making chocolate whipped cream. Thanks for the recipe, and for the tip on sifting – I’ve been looking all over for a fancy sifter. Well, I already have a strainer. What more do I need?

  5. Yum, yum, yum. I can think of so many great ways to use this. And perfect for hot chocolate. Great idea.

  6. Thanksgiving and Christmas are probably the only times of the year I eat whipped cream, but sometimes it’s just worth it! I love the idea of adding cocoa to it1

  7. Just made this for a dessert topping. It works well and tastes great. I added one package of vanilla sugar and some “Whip It” to stabilize and hold it.

Hi how much does this make as i am using it as a cake covering

    • I have never measured it, but I think it makes at least 6 cups. I am pretty sure it will be plenty to frost a cake, but if you want to be sure you could always 1 1/2 the recipe.

  9. Turned out PERFECT for my Peanut Butter pie! I’ve been looking for a chocolate whipped topping for this pie for years & your recipe is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you! My mixer is new so it’s strong. I blended for 1 minute on medium & after the first addition of cocoa/sugar, it became the chocolate butter, like you said. I simply dropped down to low & added 1/4 cup more cream. That’s what I love about this recipe; it’s flexible!
