Lemon Fruit Salad

by Lynn

Fruit salad, I have always wondered if it is a side dish or a dessert. It seems like some people consider it one and some the other. But let’s leave that debate for another post and talk about the reasons I love fruit salad.

Fruit salads are great because they are easy and always popular. Kids always enjoy them and they are an easy dish to take to a potluck or church dinner.

As usual, I like variety in my food and cooking. We have all had basic fruit salads and Jello type fruit salad. I have a favorite easy fruit salad and I still love it, but I am always looking for new versions.

I don’t like to use Jello. Some day I will write whole post on that, and on the fact that I am allergic to most varieties of Jello because of the food coloring in them. For now let’s just say I stay away from Jello salads. So that limits my choices when it comes to fruit salad recipes.

I recently wanted to make fruit salad, but wanted something different. I came up with a fruit salad that is inspired by a fruit dip that I found in a local Oklahoma cookbook.

We have been enjoying this fruit salad for dessert. It makes a good side dish type salad, but because it is definitely on the sweet side. It makes a good and semi healthy dessert.

This recipe makes a lot. So, if I am just fixing this for my family and not a large group, I half the recipe.

This sounds so yummy and easy. Thanks for sharimg it with us. I would have thought to make a salad with the whipped cream and yogurt but not adding the marshmellow creme. Thanks:)

That is a new twist on an old favorite! Great for a brown bag lunch.
