Honey Frosting

by Lynn

I recently made this honey frosting for some cupcakes, and I was reminded how much I love this frosting.

I have this posted with my banana cupcakes, but after making this the other day I decided this frosting needed a post of it’s own.

This is great on my banana cupcakes, but really this would be good on banana cake, zuchinni cake, carrot cake, or really just about any type of cake. Well, okay I might not put this on a chocolate cake, but it would work on just about any other type of cake.

The honey in this  just adds something different. It gives it a little extra flavor that you do not expect in regular frosting.

If you are making a layer cake, you will want to double this.

Oh yum!! This sounds great! Now I’m tempted to make banana cupcake with honey frosting and a dusting of finely hopped walnuts or pecans. Tasty!!!

We love honey frosting too, especially with a dash of cinnamon. My version doesn’t use cream cheese, but I am sure that would be good too.

I’ve never seen honey used in frosting before – I’m definitely going to try this! Have you ever tried making it with some orange zest/juice added in? I’m guessing the honey/orange combo would be really yummy on a plain yellow cake.

I’ve made both maple and agave cream cheese frosting before but never honey. This will be next on my list!

Cream cheese and honey? Can’t possibly go wrong with that.

Lynn, that looks so good! Forget the cupcake (even though I love cupcakes, you know) and eat it with a spoon :-)
