Kitchen Essentials: Cookie Scoops

May 25, 2010

I have had many people ask me how I get my cookies to look so uniform and exact. They think I spend a lot of time getting them the perfect size, but it is actually a really a simple trick.

All I do is use today’s kitchen essential.

In order to get perfectly sized cookies every time I use a cookie/ice cream scoop.

I have several different sizes of scoops, because I like to make all kinds and sizes of cookies. Having different sizes of scoops allows me to do this.

I also like to use these scoops for filling muffin tins. The smaller one works great for mini muffins and one of the larger ones works great for larger muffins.

The other thing I like to use these for is meatballs. If you want meatballs that are all the exact same size, then you should try one of these.

Do you use scoops like these? What is your favorite thing to use them for?

Lynn

I love scoops like this. They are also great for portioning something like guacamole, making a cute little round of guac!

I love my scoops! Use them all the time for things, like meatballs, melon, cookies, muffins. Hummm…I think there is a few more ways I use them too just can’t remember.

I love scoops. They are great for cookies and meatballs. Mini muffins they are great because you don’t have the batter everywhere all over your muffin pan or liners. Neat!
Thanks for posting!

I use a scoop for cookies, but never thought about meatballs. What size do you use for meatballs??

@Lori, It depends on what size meatballs that I want, but it is usually one of the smaller two that I use.

I love my scoops too. But I always forget to pull them out for the muffin batter. LOL.

Great post!

I love my medium scoop for muffins for my kiddos. They always want 2 muffins even if they are large so this makes the size appropriate for seconds.

I love my small scoop for meatballs. These are great as Swedish meatballs or meatball subs. Also, when I freeze the meatballs (cooked), they defrost much quicker making dinner that much faster onto the table!

My hubby didn’t realize I use the scoops for something other than ice cream. He was shocked that a tool could have more than 1 purpose. :)

I smiled when I saw the title of your post and immediately thought of the four scoops I have in my kitchen drawer. I use mine for everything just like you.

Lynn, I have 3 of the exact scoops that you do (b/c I sell them!!LOL) and we use them for everything!! Yes, the small one is perfect for mini-muffins and meatballs.. I have a home daycare and make these alot. It’s also great for portion control for things like applesauce, yogurt, mashed potatoes, etc. I also use my scoops for pancake batter, salmon patty mixture, scooping up sloppy joes onto a bun. One of the best tools in my kitchen!!!
