International Bacon Day

Did you know that tomorrow is International Bacon Day?

Yes, the Saturday before Labor Day is International Bacon Day.

There is a special day for almost every food and usually I let them come and go without much thought, but when my husband showed me an article in our paper this morning about bacon day, I knew I could not let it pass by. We do raise hogs after all, and we love bacon in our house.

Now bacon is perfect on it’s own. We enjoy it with pancakes or eggs for breakfast, but bacon also adds a nice depth of flavor to many recipes.

I did a quick search on my site looking for recipes that contained bacon. I found quite a few. In fact I did not realize that I had so many. I guess we really do love bacon.

Here are some of our favorites.

Spaghetti Carbonara

Cowboy Spaghetti

Bacon Wrapped Grilled Corn

Cornbread with Bacon

Chicken and Bacon Lo Mein

What is your favorite way to eat bacon?

I agree! Most everything is better with bacon! Other than just eating it straight we love a recipe called Bacon-Feta chicken! Soo good!!

  3. My hubby makes a fabulous “man” version of quiche with bacon, onion, and swiss. YUM!

  4. I’m so timely! As I’m reading your post I’m baking two pounds of bacon!
It’s prep for MY favorite way to eat bacon – in bacon cheddar sesame twists – make some pizza dough – roll out thin, lay bacon slices in a row along one half – sprinkle some cheddar atop, fold other half over and top with sesame seeds [heavily -or use other sprinkles you adore], flip the whole thing and repeat the sprinkling [it’s awesome with black sesame seeds on one side, white on the other – pretty!] then slice into strips [along bacon, savvy?] and twist each stick, sprinkle with some extra cheddar and bake
    MMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm
I freeze ’em for a quick breakfast or for lunchboxes

  5. My favorite way is the classic BLT. However, my mom loves bacon and onion pizza so that’s what we had to celebrate! She got a real kick out of there being an International Bacon Day! Thanks for the info!!
