Ask The Readers- Where Was I?

Any guesses where I spent the last week?

The rhubarb was ripe and ready for baking.

The beach was over cast and cool.

My Okie kids found the giant slugs very fascinating.

The views were breathtaking.

The waterfalls are like nothing these kids from Oklahoma have ever seen.

The trails are perfect for hiking.

And this is a part of everyday life.

I had a wonderful week of vacation and now it is back to reality.

  1. That looks just like where I live in WA. Although I guess it could be Oregon.

  2. I know exactly where you were…but that would be cheating! Glad you had a good time!

  3. yea for the Pacific North West!! Hope you had fun.

One photo looked as if it was taken along the Columbia River Gorge…and the others look like Washington state. I lived there the 23 years previous to where we now live (NC). Sometimes I do miss living there…at least the years we spent living in the trees!!!

  5. Yay for Oregon! lol I have lived in Oregon since I was 3 and Washington before that, so I sometimes forget how beautiful it is and how lucky we are! I need to get my kids out of the house for some road trips…what falls did you visit? Looks like Multnomah and Silver, but I’m not really sure.

    • @Melissa, Those are the falls in the gorge. We drove the historic hwy and went to crown point/vista house area and hiked into several of the falls. We also stopped at Multnomah falls since it is along that hwy also. We did mainly the shorter trails, but was able to see quite a few. The weather was great the day we did it. The beach we went to was Seaside and although it was overcast and a bit cool, it did not rain and it was a great day. And yes, you all in the northwest are very lucky. :)

The big slugs gives it away. :) That could only be the pacific northwest & the sand dunes mean it is Oregon. Hope you had a wonderful time!

    • @Merrilee, Yes, don’t you love the giant OR slugs. ;) I could not figure out what my kids were looking at and I had to kind of laugh when I realized it was slugs that they were so interested in. You know you are not for the NW when you find slugs interesting.

  7. Ah, I miss Oregon. Lots of green things and mountains. A far cry from where I live now in the midwest which is very flat (suburbs of Chicago). Not long after I moved here, I remember passing a sign for a “forest preserve”. I got very excited. However, when I saw it, I said, “That’s not a forest. That’s a grove of trees!” This part of the country also doesn’t have a lot in the way of evergreens so winter is very bare and stark. Even the deciduous trees we had in Oregon looked green in the winter because of all the mistletoe.

  8. We lived in WA for 2 years, and now are back in Wisconsin. Just the other day I was missing the trees while driving to work… flat flat flat here! I loved being out there in the mountains and trees. And I was just as fascinated with the slugs! I grew up in VA and we had slugs but nothing like those! :) Glad you guys had fun.
