Chipotle Pepper Salad Dressing

I don’t know about you, but we eat a lot of salad this time of year. They are not only healthy, they are quick and easy to make. But having salad so often can become boring.

We tend to make them the same way over and over. One easy way to change up a salad though is the dressing. And when it comes to homemade salad dressings the options are endless.

I was recently trying to come up with homemade salad dressing to go with a spicy chicken main dish that I was making and decided to tweak a homemade salad dressing by adding chipotle peppers. My family loves the flavor of chipotle peppers. They add a nice layer of spice and a depth of flavor that is really unique.

I added just a little chipotle to it and it turned out just as I was hoping it would. The chipotle pepper made a perfect addition to the creamy dressing. It gave it just a little extra flavor and spice without being overly spicy. If you like your food a little spicier though, you could easily add some extra chipotle pepper to it.

One other tip is to be sure that you puree this really well. You want the pepper throughout the dressing and you want it really nice and smooth.

  1. Mmmm, I’ll need to try it! We eat salads every day in the summer too! Our favourite homemade dressing this summer is: http://annejisca.wordpress.com/2011/05/17/voeller-salad-dressing/ Soooo good and easy to make. :)

  2. Any ideas on something I could use besides mayo? Leave it out? Extra oil?

    • @Tricia, The mayo is what helps give it a creaminess. Do you use something in place of mayo in other things? That might work. You could do all oil, just know it might change it some. I hope that helps.

  3. This made my five to try post today; can’t wait to give it a try!

  4. This sounds and looks fantastic. Do you just omit the peppers and get a dressing similar to Olive Garden’s?
