What Is It Wednesday {Item Sixteen}

I recently found this while shopping with my kids. They wanted to give it a try, so I bought one.

Do you know what it is?

Here it is on a piece of paper so that you can see what size it is.

  13. Im not sure what this is, but I wanted to say Hello and tell you thank you for all of the yummy looking recipes! I have quite a few on my list of meals to make :)

    Have a great night!

  14. Looks like a spaghetti squash to me too. :-)

  15. That one I know – Spaghetti Squash!

  16. Nope. Changing my mind. Now that I’ve taken a better look – I don’t know. It’s not spaghetti squash and it’s not a Honeydew Melon. Might be some other kind of melon though.

  17. Canary Melon? The flesh looks too soft to be a squash!

  18. I’m pretty sure it’s a canary melon, rather than a crenshaw. I’m definitely going to start Googling what fruits and veggies are referred to in different countries. In the US, honeydew melons are green inside with a pale almost white skin, but sure enough when I Googled “uk honeydew”, I came up with similar melons to this item. I love learning new things!

  19. I was going to guess Spaghetti Squash as I’m growing some in my garden for the first time this year and I read that the outside is supposed to be bright yellow when it’s ready to pick. And one of the ones in my garden looks similar to this. However, I don’t know what it looks like inside, so I’m not positive by the picture above.

Thanks to your “What is it Wednesday’s”, I now find myself checking out unusual looking fruits/veggies in the supermarket to learn what they are.

  20. Looks like a canary melon to me. My husband just brought two home from the commissary.

  21. It looks like a crenshaw melon. They are very good and sweet!

  22. ellen tinder says:

is it what we used to call a peach melon?

  23. It’s totally spaghetti squash! so yummy!

  24. Mmm, honeydew. :)

  25. Btw, if it were squash, it would look more like a pumpkin inside. Spaghetti squash looks like spaghetti inside. This, however, is totally a melon. :)

  26. Nancy Michel says:

It’s either a crenshaw or canary melon

  27. It looks like canary melon to me.

  28. cmcfadden says:

This looks like something my mom used to buy all the time when I was growing up. She called it a korean melon. So my guess is that or a canary melon. Not sure which one though….

  29. It looks like a Casaba melon!

  30. Can I change my mind and give a different answer??
Casaba is a different shape so I am changing my answer to
    Crenshaw!
    Do I win a free melon or………?

  31. crenshaw melon also known as a yellow honeydew. a lot milder than regular honeydew. I love them, but my kiddos don’t like the taste so much

  32. Crenshaw’s are a different color inside. Spaghetti squash have differently shaped seeds. Canary.

  33. Canary. I just cut one up this morning. Delish!
