Crock Pot Orange Barbecue Pork

One of my favorite ways to cook pork roast is in the crock pot. It is so easy to put a roast in the crock pot in the morning, turn it on, and have dinner waiting for you at the end of the day.

This recipe today is so easy. It is a little different take on my normal barbecue pork roast because it contains orange juice. The orange juice in this gives it a little extra depth of flavor and I think also helps tenderize the roast.

You can serves this shredded with oven fries or another side dish, or you can serve it on hamburger buns or bread as barbecue pork sandwiches. Either way it is really good.

  1. I make a lot of beef roasts and such, but for some reason I get intimidated by pork roasts. What kind of pork roast should I look for? Have you ever done a post about the different kinds / cuts of pork and how to fix them? I especially need help with my pork chops. They always look so good in the store, then I get them home and dread trying to fix them because they always turn out dry and tough. :( Maybe I will have to attempt brining them!

Thanks for all your recipes. We have loved all the ones I have tried so far.

    • I usually use a shoulder roast for this. I agree pork chops can be hard and I have a few recipes that I need to get posted. I will try to do that soon. I do think that brining the pork helps. I did it with pork chops last night and I think it helped a lot. A post on the different cuts of pork would be good also, I will add that to my list of things to post about, because it is a good idea.

      • Lynn,

I would also love a post about the different cuts of pork. I’d also like your thoughts on buying organic pork or the equivalent. I buy my meat from Sam’s Club. The beef is all labeled grass-fed, but the pork is not. It is something that I have wondered about.

  2. Hi Lynn! This looks DELICIOUS! Already got it down to make on Tuesday :) Thanks for sharing!

  3. Hi Lynn! Had to let you know my family DEVOURED this!! Sooo easy to throw in the crockpot in the morning & then have a FABULOUS dinner waiting for you come dinner time :) Not to mention my house smelled YUMMY!! Thanks again for a GREAT recipe :)
