Easy Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin pie is a classic dessert to make for Thanksgiving. Nothing says fall and Thanksgiving quite like pumpkin pie and in our house it is not really the holidays without at least one pumpkin pie.

Over the years I have made many pumpkin pies, but this Easy Pumpkin Pie is my new favorite. I really think it is the best pumpkin pie I have made.

I was recently looking through the Sunday coupons and saw a coupon for sweetened condensed milk. Well, I love and use a lot of sweetened condensed milk, especially during the holidays, so the coupon caught my attention.

And on the same page as the coupon was a delicious looking pumpkin pie and a recipe. The recipe caught my attention, because it was a baked pie that contained sweetened condensed milk. I have made many pumpkin pies that contained evaporated milk, but I had never made a baked pumpkin pie that contained sweetened condensed milk.

Well, I knew right away that this was not a recipe I could wait until Thanksgiving to make, especially since it had been over two years since I had pumpkin pie.

So, I set to work making this pie last week and we loved it. The texture was silky smooth and perfect. And I admit that I might just have eaten a couple of pieces in one day. Okay, so I ate three pieces in one day, but it really had been two years since I had a pumpkin pie and this one was so good.

This will definitely be on our Thanksgiving table this year.

Now, this pumpkin pie may not be new to many of you, but some how I have missed this pie recipe. Have any of you made a baked pumpkin pie with sweetened condensed milk before?

  1. Sounds great, can’t wait to try it! It’s not listed, but in Step 2 you also add the pumpkin, correct? :)

  2. This is very similar to my mom’s preferred pumpkin pie recipe. I think she got it off of the can of sweetened condensed milk! I blogged the recipe last year. It’s almost the same, with a little more spice and also directions for a lower-fat version. http://mamieutah.blogspot.com/2010/11/perfect-pumpkin-pie.html

  3. Pumpkin pie is easily my favorite dessert of all time. Embarrassingly I have never made it. I always just chow down on the pie my Great Aunt Amy makes. I love the simplicity of this pie. Easy to make and delicious…does not get better than that.

  4. Wow, that might actually get me to try it. I have never made pumpkin pie. I always buy it from Sam’s Club. To bad the gluten-free girl of the house doesn’t like pumpkin or I’d make it for her.

  5. I’ve never made it that way before, but I have had a pie made with sweetened condensed milk (by my brother) and I didn’t care for the caramel-y, dulce de leche sort of flavor that it gave the pie. But it’s been a long time since then, and as I recall, he said the sweetened condensed milk was a mistake and not called for in the recipe.

  6. This was so easy and delicious! I added 1 teaspoon of vanilla and its yummu!

  7. Hi there, for the ginger – do you mean 1/2 tsp powdered ginger? Also if I can’t find sweetened condensed milk, can I use milk instead or is there another substitute?

    • Yes, powdered or ground ginger. Sweetened condensed milk is thick and sweet, so I don’t think regular milk would work. My mom has a homemade version of sweetened condensed milk, but I have never posted the recipe. I need to do that because it can be helpful to those that can’t find it or don’t have it. I am sure you could find a homemade version of it online though and it should work ok in this, although I have never tried the homemade version in this. I hope that helps.

  8. have you tried slow bakeing it when i do i preheat to 350 and drop it down to 290 for 1 1/2 its the way sams club bakes theirs and mine come out tasting just like sams club pumpkin pie crust unburnt and all

  10. Hi…did you use a 9″ regular OR deep dish pie plate? Thanks!
