Barbecue Pork On King’s Hawaiian Buns

Note: This is a sponsored post, but my thoughts and opinions are my own.

Some of you might have read the title of this and wondered what I was doing sharing about King’s Hawaiian bread products. Several in my family eat gluten free, so it probably sounds like an odd match for me, but King’s Hawaiian in actually a great match for my family.

My daughters and I eat gluten free, but my son and husband do not. I often eat my hamburgers and hot dogs without a bun, but I am not going to make my husband and son eat a bunless hamburger because I know a bunless hamburger is just not the same.

We also often serve bbq to family and friends at our house and I don’t expect them to eat bunless burgers and hot dogs. So, yes I keep regular bread and buns on hand at my house.

The trouble with hamburger buns for us is actually not really the gluten it is the sesame, yes the sesame. My daughter has a sesame allergy and it is as bad as her nut allergies. She can’t have them at all. Sesame is really not that hard to avoid except when it comes to things like hamburger buns and it is probably one of those things that people don’t really think about until you have to avoid them.

The little sesame seeds on the top of hamburger buns are messy. They fall off and tend to sprinkle everywhere. And yes you can buy buns without the sesame seeds, but they often still have sesame in the actually bread part. I guess they add flavor to the product as well, so it is actually quite hard to find buns that are totally sesame free. There are only a few brands that don’t have them in them and King’s Hawaiian is one of them.

So that is why King’s Hawaiian is a perfect fit for us. I can buy hamburger buns without having to worry about the cross contamination.

But that is not the only reason you will find them at my house. You will find that because they are really good. My husband loves these. I used to make homemade bread and rolls all the time before I was gluten free, since going gluten free I don’t make them at all unless they are gluten free.

The first time my husband had King’s Hawaiian hamburger buns he loved them because they reminded him of homemade ones. I knew they were good when he said that.

Over Memorial Day weekend we had family over and I served barbecue pork and brisket. I knew King’s Hawaiian would be perfect served with the bbq. Everyone loved them and they worked great. They were fresh and had a lot of flavor and paired well with the bbq.

King’s Hawaiian buns and products will definitely be served often at my house this summer.
