Today is Friday and that means it is pizza and movie night at our house.
BBQ pizza is a pizza I have been making for years. I started making it years ago as a way to use up leftover meat. I often make a crock pot full of bbq chicken, beef, or pork. We then eat it for a few days or I put it in the freezer to use at a later time.
One of the things I love about bbq meat is that you can use it so many different ways. You can eat it as is, as sandwiches, on baked potatoes, and even on pizza. Yes, pizza. It is delicious on pizza!
When I took the picture for the BBQ beef pizza I used brisket. Which is what makes this so great, you can just use whatever BBQ meat you have on hand.
One of the things I like about BBQ pizza is that it doesn’t take a lot of meat to make. This is perfect for that last little bit of BBQ meat that you might have left, but that is not enough for a complete meal. Spreading it on pizza with a little BBQ sauce and cheese will make it stretch and make a complete meal.
The day I took the pictures for this, my kids were once again in charge of the cheese. And that means that our pizza was extra cheesy.
I did not give exact amounts for this recipe. This is one of those recipes that I just use what I have. You can use as much or as little meat as you like. And the same thing with the cheese. We like a lot of cheese, but you can easily use just a little. This is one of those recipes that you can just take the basic idea and make it your own.
BBQ Beef Pizza
- bbq beef or brisket
- bbq sauce
- shredded colby jack or cheddar cheese
- pizza crust
- Spread bbq sauce on pizza. I use about 1/4 cup per pizza.
- Sprinkle half of the cheese on top of sauce.
- Spread meat on top of cheese.
- Top with remaining cheese.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 12-15 minutes or as directed for crust.
Note: If I am using a gluten free crust I prebake the crust for 7-9 minutes, then top the pizza, then finish baking.
