Last week I shared one of my favorite small kitchen appliances. Today I thought I would share a few of my favorite pyrex pieces. These are the ones that I use pretty much everyday. I love them!

These all make great gifts because they are inexpensive and almost everyone loves and uses Pryex.

Let’s start off with a fun fact though.

Did you know that it is Pyrex’s 100th Anniversary? Yes, Pyrex has been making life in the kitchen easier for 100 years!

I am guessing that almost everyone reading this owns at least one piece of Pyrex in their kitchen. It is a brand we all know and love.

One of the pieces that I use most in my kitchen is my set of bowls. I love them! And I guess this is not a piece, but several pieces. I have the Pyrex Mixing Bowl Set pictured above. It includes four bowls and four lids. I use it for everything from mixing batters and doughs to storing leftovers in the fridge.

Earlier this year I bought the 100th anniversary 4 cup containers and I love them. Amazon has them as a Pyrex 100 Year Glass Food Storage Set that is a great price right now. I just bought a couple of sets this weekend to give as Christmas gifts this year.

I plan to fill them with homemade candy and give them away. I think they will make a fun and inexpensive gift because who wouldn’t love and use a fun storage container filled with candy!

One of the reasons I love the Pyrex 100 Year Glass Food Storage Set is that they match my Fiestaware dishes almost perfectly. If you know someone that has Fiestaware these containers would be a great gift.

And not only are these containers pretty they are great for storing leftovers and for freezing food. They work great for freezing soups and chili in.

Pryex also has some very cute 100th Anniversary Measuring Cup. They would be a fun addition to any kitchen as well.

And I can’t do a Pryex post without mentioning their general Pyrex Glass Food Storage Sets and containers. I have been using these for years for freezer cooking. Because they have lids they work great for freezing just about anything.

I love them for casseroles, soup, chili, taco meat, and more. Most of mine I bought years ago and I still love and use them all the time.

I would love to hear what your favorite and most used pieces of Pyrex are? Do you have some that you love and use all the time?

Lynn's Kitchen Adventures

  1. I have my grandma’s pyrex measuring cups

  2. Wow, that’s such a great price on Amazon for that set of five! And a great idea, too, to use them as Christmas gifts containers. I already have two that I use constantly but my cabinet is getting so full! Plus I have a ton of the other square and oval Pyrex containers that I’ve been using for years. Love them all! I won’t use any plastic anymore and I also love how the Pyrex lids can be bought on their website if they crack. But now you may convince me to buy more….

    • I know what you mean on cabinets getting full. But Pyrex pieces are so tempting because we use them all the time. :-) I did not know that about the lids, but I will have to remember that. Thanks!!

  3. I love my original 1 and 2 cup measuring cups that I bought 30+ years ago; these are the ones you used to be able to buy before they changed the glass handle design a few years ago. I wonder how many hundreds of times I have used these wonderful, sturdy and indispensable pieces to make so many homemade things? I treasure these workhorse pieces! :)

  4. Oh Lynn, you’re killing me! I bought the set and just picked them up at Walmart. They are so pretty!!! I can’t part with them! The kids love them too so it looks like our friends will either get a plain pyrex bowl with blue lid from the shelf (only 3.60 at Walmart) or in a pretty baggie. *blush* How selfish is that?!!!
I also found a site that sells pyrex lids and ordered several that I have never had before. One lid I got was for an 8×8 dish from our wedding 22 years ago and it fits perfectly! and it was free shipping if you spend more than $15.
I’m getting so organized! But I’m also needing to get rid of some older bowls to make room for the pretty new ones.
Thanks again for sharing the link. :)

    • I am glad you found some and love them! I am going to post tomorrow what I did for gift giving for my husband’s office. And some of my pyrex are over 20 years old too because they were wedding gifts. I think pyrex is one of those things that everyone loves and uses.

      • I look forward to your post tomorrow! :) Isn’t that cool that they are just timeless and sturdy.
BTW, I hope your family is doing well in OR. It is just crazy weather here in WA with flooding, wind, and power outages. Yikes!

        • Yes OR and WA is having crazy weather! My family is all fine. They all live high enough that they have avoided the flooding. My sister lives in WA and has had issues with the wind etc, but so far they are all fine. The town I grew up in has had quite a bit of flooding. I hope your weather out there calms down soon. You all went from extremely dry to extremely wet in a very short time!
