What Is It Wednesday {September 4th}

WIIW 9-4-13_

You all have a pretty good record when it comes to What Is It Wednesdays, so although I think this week’s may be a hard one to guess, I am sure some of you will know exactly what it is.

My daughter told me that they looked disgusting and like something you should not eat, but they are in fact edible. I will let you know next week what we thought of them.

Here they are next to a penny so you can get a better idea of the size.

Do you know what they are?

Lynn's Kitchen Adventures

  1. Are they mulberries?

  2. When I first saw the picture, I thought white raspberries? I really am not sure! Are they dried maybe??

  3. White mulberries – once I convinced my son to try them (his reaction was much the same as your daughter’s!) he loved them.

  4. I am thinking they are white mulberries. Mix either white or the more traditional purple ones equal parts mulberries with rhubarb for a tasty cobbler that reminds me of blackberry cobbler. A much overlooked fruit for sure.

  5. My first thought was mulberries, but they are the wrong color. I grew up with a mulberry tree and ate many of them, but those were wine colored. I see some are guessing white mulberries, so if there is such a thing, that would be my guess also, due to the fact that they LOOK like mulberries. 🙂

  6. They are white mulberries for sure. I grew up with these as well as the more common purple ones. My Mom made the best mulberry jelly. They were always a mess to gather, but great with cream or on cereal or ice cream. Great memories.

  7. I had no idea. I really like how you introduce us to knew stuff that we might not have ever heard of before. Thank you!

  8. I think they are wheat….

  9. Candied or roasted walnuts?
