Grilled Nachos

If your family is anything like mine then they love nachos.

Nachos are a favorite in our house because they make a quick and easy lunch or dinner. Recently I discovered a new favorite way to fix nachos.

Grilled nachos anyone?!

Seriously these are so good and so easy. There is no heating the house to make them and grilling them gives them a nice smokey flavor that adds a depth of flavor that you do not get making them in the oven.

And the best part is that you can top them with whatever you like. You can do simply cheese and chips. You can add beans or even some leftover taco or fajita meat. Really, you can take this basic idea and make whatever kind of nachos that you like

And the other thing that I love is no soggy nachos. I do not like soggy chips in my nachos and grilling them keeps them crisp and nice.

So easy and so good!

There is one trick to these though and that is a cast iron or other grill safe pan. I use two cast iron pans when I make these to that I do not overcrowd the pan. And if you don’t have a cast iron pan, this recipe alone makes it worth getting one. 🙂

  1. Great idea to keep the kitchen cool and so easy.

  2. Mama Owl says:

Oh YUMMMMM! These will be a welcome addition to our “grilling recipes”! We’ve just discovered grilled pizza and are looking for more ways to use the grill! Thank you sooo much!
QUESTION!!! Do you make this on a gas grill? We have a charcoal grill and am wondering if it will work the same?

    • I do these on gas, but I am thinking it would work the same on charcoal. The time may vary depending on how hot the grill is, but I think it would be great that way.

  3. What if you don’t have a cast iron pan? What else will work?

    • If you have a grill pan or basket or something like that I think it would work. It would just have to be a pan that is safe to use on the gas grill and not all are.

  4. Hello Lynn! These looks so delicious. I am always looking to find things that I can cook (other than BBQ) on my grill. We love making pizza on the grill and I have actually baked bread out there, but I’m super excited to make nacho’s. We love to have friends over to sit outside and this will be a great, hot, finger food that might even work as a meal if I add taco meat or something to it. Definitely cheaper than ordering pizza (for a relaxing visit and not having alot of prep work). Thanks for this terrific idea!

  5. Love this recipe! I added taco meat and left over rice and fresh corn! So delicious! It’s one of our favorite grilling recipes.

    • Thanks! I am so glad that you enjoyed it. I love to add whatever mexican type stuff we have leftover or on hand to nachos. It helps change them up and keep them interesting. Taco meat is one of our favorites to add.

  6. Just found this recipe through your weekly meal plan. I had NEVER thought of using the grill to make nachos. Fantastic idea!!

  7. Hmmm, I never thought of doing this on the grill. But, now you made me hungry for grilled nachos! We’ll have to try it!
