Merry Christmas

The next week or two is really busy for me, so I do not know how much I will be posting.

First of all my birthday is this week. When I was a kid I hated having my birthday the same week as Christmas, but now as an adult it is not bad. It does make for a week full of activities, presents, and desserts though. Several years ago I made a comment about moms never getting birthday cakes because we are the ones that always make them. Even though I was being a bit silly, my husband has made sure that the kids make me a cake ever since then. For several years it was a boxed cake with a can of frosting, but the kids love making my cake and decorating it with dad. Last year my oldest daughter made my cake by herself and this year I found a dessert recipe that is easy enough for them all to work on. They look forward to doing this for me and I think it is great. I hope they are all well so they can help. Both of my girls are sick. One of them has a cold and one is having, let’s say stomach problems. Why does it always seem like someone gets sick the week of Christmas?

The other thing that will make the next week or two busy is my husband has several days off for Christmas and New Year. We plan on spending a lot of time together as a family, as he has not had much time off this year. We also plan on spending time during the holidays with family and friends.

I am also feeling like I need a blogging break. Have any of you ever felt this way? I really have not taken much of a break since I started this blog. I have posted pretty regularly since I started it. So, I will probably take a week or so off.

I think one of the reasons I am needing a blogging break is I am not very motivated with cooking and food right now. This is typical of me this time of year, especially after my cooking marathon for the office party. I am in the mood to keep things simple right now. I also feel like I have not cooked at all healthy this month. I really need to refocus on cooking healthier after the holidays. I need to get back on track. I have several things already in mind to post about in January, so stay tuned.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
