Ask The Readers- What Is Your Favorite Kind Of Pizza?

Today I thought we would talk about pizza and what our favorite kinds of pizza are.

My favorite kind of pizza is canadian bacon and pineapple, however my family does not agree with me on that, so we usually stick to pepperoni or sausage because those are their favorites.

So, now I would love to hear what your favorite kind of pizza is? Do you stick to the basics like pepperoni, sausage, or canadian bacon, or do you venture out into something a little more unique?

Mmmmmm…..Pizza! I love Pineapple and Pepperoni (Turkey that is!) My family all love the homemade version that I make (even more than take-out!) I make sauce and dough from scratch! If we ever go out – we generally stick to cheese, chicken, maybe a veggie pizza (because we don’t eat pork and that’s all the pepperoni 🙁 ) If we get it from my favorite delivery place – I order BBQ sauce, chicken, pineapple and onions! I have wanted to experiment sometimes with my own BBQ sauce version – but I need a sweet BBQ and not a tangy one….

@Lynette, We like to make homemade BBQ pizza sometimes and it is a nice change. I love veggie pizzas, but my kids on the other hand prefer something more basic. 🙂

I like to make my own variations of pizza at home, usually BBQ Chicken and Bacon or Buffalo Chicken. I have yet to find a pizza shop that can make either version as good as mine (said in the most humble way possible). When we do order pizza out, I tend to stick with more traditional toppings since we are adventurous at home. Usually it is half pepperoni, bacon and pineapple and half tomato, mushroom, and chicken.

@The Happy Wife/Danielle, We love BBQ pizza and it makes a nice change from your basic pizza. I have never made Buffalo Chicken pizza at home, but I might have to try that one.

Two kinds: BBQ chicken pizza or Goat Cheese with Pesto & Roasted Tomatoes. I think we are having BBQ chicken tonight, actually!

We VASTLY prefer our homemade pizzas to anything bought from a restaurant or store. I usually set up a topping bar with whatever I have available, which might include: pepperoni, cooked ground beef, cooked spicy sausage, diced ham, pineapple tidbits, green onions, diced bell pepper, sliced black olives, sliced mushrooms, artichokes, and a variety of cheeses. Then the family builds several different pizzas so that everyone has something they like (and we usually end up with left overs). We make our own dough and sauce, and usually make enough to put some in the freezer for a future pizza night.

That being said, I also like “theme” pizzas, and that’s usually my choice if it’s just grown ups and no kids. My personal favorites are Mexican Pizza and BBQ Chicken Pizza. In fact, Mr. Mamie and I will be having a Mexican Pizza tonight!

I really like all kinds of different pizzas with all kinds of different toppings as long as they are all good quality. Probably one of the most odd combinations we get a lot though would be bacon, pineapple, jalapeño, garlic, and spinach. We call it the Maggie special after my aunt who so often ordered it from a local bar that anyone could go in and order a Maggie Special and they would know what it was 🙂

I just made the most awesome pizza ever last night. My family really devoured it. Here is a link.

@rere, I was thinking the same thing. Although we do like to venture out once in a while, we stick to the pretty plain pizzas most of the time.

At a restaurant- ham, bacon & pineapple.
At home – sauted onions & peppers + whatever meat is handy…usually pork.

Either plain cheese, pepperoni, or black olives. I like to stick to single toppings. (My husband disagrees though- he loves supreme- but he is outnumbered!)

I like to try lots of different topping combinations, but I always prefer my deep dish two-crusted pizza to any of the thin crust pizzas. Tomorrow I’m trying my deep dish recipe with eggplant, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, and goat cheese.

    Bacon and onion
    taco pizza
    goat’s cheese, tomato and spinach
margherita- tomato, mozzerella, olive oil, herbs -no sauce
We rarely make our own pizza, although I keep saying I am going to. We did a few times make some really good deep dish pizzas, gonna have to make some again sometime soon.

I usually make (turkey) pepperoni for my husband and a broccoli, mushroom and black olive pizza for me and my son. My son is 2 1/2 yr old and loves pizza so any way that I can get more veggies down him is great for me! Sometimes, though, I also make a grilled chicken and artichoke pizza. My hubby loves that combo though I think it’s a little weird.

We like homemade pizza with Italian spices baked into the crust. The kids like spinach & black olives. The grownups eat spinach, tomatoes, black olives, onions and mushrooms. Yum. Last time, I added a grated up zucchini and no one even knew it was there. Hee, hee, hee.

We are fairly basic here. Hubby and 2 kids like ham and pineapple. One kid and I like pepperoni and mushroom. We mix it up a little with sausage, olives, onion, peppers, that kind of thing. I make our dough and sauce, then have two different pizzas for our whole crew. We use the dough and sauce recipes from Good Cheap Eats, and love them.

Before I found out that I have Celiac, my favorite pizza was the combo pizza at Round Table Pizza, The King Arthur Special. I never thought I would ever like cheese pizzas at all, but I fell in love with the frozen Margherita Pizza from Trader Joes. I’m super picky when it comes to pizza, so these were my staple pizzas.

Once upon a time it used to be just plain pizzas nothing out of the ordinary but thanks to dominos, i started to be a fan of the texas bbq chicken and now Pizza 73 has donair sauce on their pizzas which is quite good but since i mastered the art of making my own bases with the yeast i almost prefer home-made most of the time!!I make them huge anyway so not as bad at take-out!!My fave is a tangy tomato sauce with taco beef and vegetables!!!Mmmmmmm!!

My favorite is pepporoni but I love hawaiian as well. Canadian bacon and pineapple doesn’t seem to be as popular here in New York. Maybe it’s more of a West Coast thing??

My absolute most favorite pizzas are Buffalo Chicken or Chicken Alfredo when we go out for buffet.
When we order, we normally order sausage or ham and pineapple bc everyone in our house likes those.

I’ll have to look for your pizza recipe here, Lynn, regular and gluten-free. I generally order pizza from Papa Murphy’s. We love Hawaiian pizza and supreme pizzas usually. I’ve never tried to make my own pizza much.

Homemade pizza is the traditional Saturday dinner at our house. Since there are a lot of eaters and I make 4 large pizzas, I’m able to make a nice variety…. and everyone is happy. 🙂 I also make a whole-wheat crust from scratch that my family loves. My personal favorite is a Mexican version – refried beans, Rotel tomatoes, ground beef (or leftover taco meat), onions, jalapenos & cheese; then topped with sour cream & salsa… Yumm!
