Baked oatmeal is one of my favorite freezer meals. And if you love baked oatmeal too, freezer baked oatmeal is a must make!
It is no secret that I love baked oatmeal. I have shared so many baked oatmeal recipes over the years. My whole family loves it.
My baked oatmeal recipes are also some of the most popular recipes on my site. You love them as much as I do.
I have mentioned before that I love freezing baked oatmeal. I shared a little bit about how I do it in my tips and facts for making baked oatmeal post. Today though I wanted to share my new favorite way to freeze baked oatmeal.
My family loves baked oatmeal, but the reality is that no one likes the same ones. Everyone has a favorite or a request when I am making it. I usually make two pans of it, but I have found a way to make it even more simple.
The last few months I have been making my basic baked oatmeal recipes, that fit in a 9×13 pan, and dividing it into two pie pans. I bake it as normal, but decrease the time slightly. Let it cool. Than wrap it and freeze it. I defrost it. Reheat it and serve it.
The reason I love to do it this way is that it allows me to easily serve three to four kinds at one time. I can make up four or five different kinds of baked oatmeal and divide them between pie pans. Even the inexpensive disposable type ones work.
This makes each pie pan a half of a recipe, so when I serve it I can take out three or four pans, which would be three or four flavors at a time, and my whole family is happy. They all have a baked oatmeal for breakfast that they love.
I know this is pretty basic, but it has taken me years to discover that this is my favorite way to do it. My family loves baked oatmeal muffins, which also gives us different flavors, but they like this even better because the texture is the exact same as baked oatmeal.
You can also do this same idea by dividing the batter into two 8×8 pans, but it makes it a little thinner than my normal baked oatmeal. My family prefers doing it in pie pans.
The one tip I have about this is that if you are going to reheat the whole pan at once in the microwave make sure to use glass. We usually just cut the baked oatmeal into pieces and then each person takes the pieces they want out and microwaves them, so the metal or disposable pie pans work for us. Just keep that in mind when you make it.
