I have now had my gluten free sourdough starter going for a couple of years. Over that time, I have had so much fun experimenting with all kinds of things using my gluten-free starter.
Pancakes and waffles have been some of my favorite things to try.

I came up with a gluten free sourgough pancake recipe that we love a while ago, but a waffle recipe has taken me a little longer.
I had some trouble with the texture of the waffles. With a little experimenting, I finally got it right.
I have been making gluten free waffles for over fifteen years. I have made a lot of waffles over the years, and I think these gluten-free sourdough waffles are my new favorite.

Ingredients
- gluten free sourdough starter that has been fed/is active
- eggs
- oil
- honey
- vanilla
- baking soda
- salt
- gluten free flour blend, I used Bob’s Red Mill 1 to 1 Gluten Free Flour Blend

Gluten Free Sourdough Waffles
Waffles are a delicious way to put your gluten free sourdugh to use! They are a meal everyone will enjoy.
Ingredients
- 2 cups active (fed) gluten free sourdough starter
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon oil
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup gluten free flour blend, I used Bob's Red Mill 1 to 1 Gluten Free Flour Blend
Instructions
- Preheat the waffle maker according to directions
- In a large bowl, combine active/fed starter, eggs, oil, honey, and vanilla. Stir until well combined.
- Add salt, gluten-free flour blend, and baking soda.
- Stir until well combined. The mixture will be slightly bubbly from the baking soda.
- Add batter to the waffle maker and cook according to the waffle maker's instructions.
Notes
This recipe works best when the gluten-free sourdough starter is active, meaning it has been fed and risen; this usually takes several hours.
