This homemade frappuccino recipe might surprise some of you, especially since I recently admitted how much I dislike coffee. I still dislike coffee, however I have many family and friends that love it.
In general my husband does not like coffee, he made it through all his years of college and studying without the help of coffee. He does not dislike it as much as I do, but it is not something he drinks regularly.
However, he does like to occasionally have a Starbucks Frappuccino. I try to keep the bottles that you can buy on hand and he drinks about one of them a week. They are expensive, and not something he needs often, but he enjoys them so they make a nice treat to have occasionally.
We recently had a church picnic at our house and I wanted to serve something a little different since it was summertime. I know that not everyone hates coffee as much as I do, so I decided that an iced coffee or homemade frappuccino might work well.
I love to make homemade versions of our favorite things, so why not make a homemade version of a frappuccino? I really wanted this to be close to the real thing, and from what I was told it was.
My husband loved this and it was gone in no time at the picnic. I had two people ask me for the recipe. One person said it was better than the Starbucks version, and one said it tasted just like the real thing.
This will make a great recipe when I have people over during the summer months. It is so easy and everyone loves it.

A can of sweetened condensed milk? Wow and yum! I’m bookmarking this right now for a special treat. Even a non coffee drinker like you would probably like it with those yummy ingredients!

Thanks for a great recipe – my husband drinks the bottled Starbucks on a regular basis and I can’t wait to have him try this. Maybe I will have to pour it in one of the bottles and find out if he can tell the difference! 🙂

Aldi carries a generic version of the bottled Starbucks at 99 cents a bottle. Taste almost exactly the same for ALOT cheaper.

YUM! Sounds so good…had to post it up on the FB wall for all my coffee buds to check out on your blog!

I am not a coffee drinker, but I do like mochas (and Frappuccinos) b/c they are sweeter and chocolatey. 🙂 This recipe looks fantastic! Visiting from Jen’s Tasty Tuesday party. 🙂

We have fallen in love with McDonald’s Frappes. MUST try this… but I think I’ll stick it, ice and all, in the blender to get the “slushy” consistency.
Lynn
@Amy @ Finer Things, That sounds like a great idea.

I dislike coffee but somehow gave birth to three out of six children who love these iced coffee things! This is WAY better than Starbucks. Thanks for the great recipe!!

The sweetened condensed milk is the key – and dangit, this was my WFMW post for next week and you beat me to it!
Lynn
@Milehimama, I agree that the sweetened condensed milk is the key. I love this because it is perfect for summer and it is so easy. And sorry I beat you to your WFMW, you can still post yours. Is yours the exact same recipe? I tweaked this one from the original a little.

Oh I love that stuff! We use a half gallon of vanilla ice cream, leave out the ice and put it in a punch bowl and call it coffee punch. Super delicious.

Sounds yummy!
I want to mention that the BOTTLES from Frappuccino are excellent for re-using. Soak open bottles and caps in hot soapy water with a slosh of vinegar, and the coffee flavor will wash out. Wash with a bottle brush. If you have trouble removing the labels, baking soda on a damp cloth takes them right off. Then you have nice glass bottles with lids that seal pretty well (although I usually put it in a plastic bag separate from the rest of my lunch, just in case it leaks) and can be used to transport a beverage to go with lunch. I take my orange juice to work this way every day!
Lynn
@’Becca, That is a great idea! Thanks for the suggestion.

What a great recipe. I have discovered I really love frappuccinos. However I am not a fan of spending all that money at Starbucks! Thanks for a better option!
Nerja
Wow, looks delicious! I’ll have to try the recipe myself.

This sounds so yummy! Do you use the already prepared, store-bought chocolate milk or just your homemade version? I find that the store-bought is too rich/chocolaty. My daughters and I LOVE frapps from SB’s and even the iced coffee from McD’s!

Try adding about 1/3 cup, or to taste, of caramel ice cream topping or just make it yourself, several good and easy recipes on the web. This gives it a different flavor that we love!

My husband and I both loved the Kirkland brand frappacino in the bottles until Costco discontinued them! This just might be our new “fix” in the morning! Thanks!
Jacqueline
Thanks for sharing; saw your facebook post this morning and I’ll have to try this! It looks delish! 😀
