What is Your Favorite Recipe or Use For Peaches? {Ask the Readers}

It is peach season here in Oklahoma and I know it is peach season in many parts of the country. And if it is not peach season yet for those of you that live in the northern part of the country, it will be soon.

So today I thought we would talk about peaches.

I love peaches. I like them fresh. I like them in cobblers and in pies. I like them in smoothies and milkshakes and just about any other way you can fix them.

So, today I would love to hear how you enjoy peaches. What is your favorite way to eat fresh peaches during the summertime?

Lynn's Kitchen Adventures

  1. Peach ice cream. The recipe I use came from Southern Living I think. I always get so many compliments on it.

  2. I usually eat them all fresh, but I do like peaches and cream pie. Or with Blue Bell vanilla ice cream.

  3. We eat most of them fresh and can a lot of them so we can have them all winter long. 🙂

  4. Peach cobbler with fresh peaches is to die for!!!

  5. My favorite is peach cobbler, and my favorite peach cobbler recipe is an old one from my mom’s 1980-something annual recipe book. You cook the peaches with butter and spices, then to bake it in a 9×13 pan, you put a pie pastry on top cut like you would for a lattice-topped pie, bake for about 20 minutes or so and then, here’s the weird but yummy part, you push the crust down into the cobbler so that it swims with the peaches and juice. Then you put a second pastry down criss-crossed with lattice strips that bakes undisturbed on top and cook further (20 more minutes maybe? i’m going off memory) until top crust is done. Very yummy!

  6. I make peach banana “ice cream.” You take a banana and a very soft pea,ch, peel both, and puree with some lime juice. Freeze for about 2 hours and it’s ready to go! Yum!

  7. Fresh– dripping chin, slurping away; that’s my favorite way. Of course, sliced with some ice cream is always nice too. It’s usually just too hot to want to bake during peach season.

  8. I agree with everyone that says fresh. It’s the best…you keep the real flavor. Altho the cobblers, etc, are very good, too. And, that peach/banana ‘ice cream’ sounds awesome! Need to try it.

  9. My family’s favorite is Peach Cream Cheese Pie. It’s the only dessert I can make well, but then I tried your recipe for Peach Cobbler, and now I make 2 really good desserts! This recipe calls for a can of peaches, but I prefer fresh.
Sift together 3/4 cup flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1 box vanilla pudding (not instant)
Beat 1 egg, add 1/2 cup milk and 1 tsp. Vanilla extract. Add flour/pudding mix. Pour into 10″ pie pan.
Place cut up peaches over batter. (recipe calls for (1) 16 oz. can, drain peaches reserving juice)
Beat together (1) 8 oz pkg. softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar, & 3 Tbs. Peach juice, or puree a half peach to get your juice. Spoon peaches over batter to within 1 inch of edge. Sprinkle a little cinnamon & sugar on top.
    Bake 350 deg. 30 min.
It sounds like a lot to do, but it is SO worth it.
My husband’s co-workers beg him to ask me to make one for him to bring.

  10. Peaches sliced in a bowl with cream & sugar or Peach Crisp.

  11. Peach Dumplings! Yum…..wrap peaches in dumpling dough, boil, then drizzle with melted butter and top with cinnamon sugar. Delicious! Family tradition!

  12. My kids love plain and simple peach cobbler! It is probably their favorite dessert. I have a super simple recipe that uses homemade baking mix. My personal favorite is peaches-n-cream muffins!

  13. My favorite to make with peaches is peach cobbler in the slow cooker.

  14. Elizabeth says

Grilled peaches- take fresh peach halves, sprinkle with a bit of cinnamon and place on the grill.

  15. Peach cobbler is always a favorite at our house. My husband loves Peach Delight, it is fresh, creamy, and crunchy!

  16. Crockpot Peach Butter!!!! YUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMY!

Fill a 3 qt crockpot with peaches – I use 2 very full qt bags
Combine 2 cups sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ground cloves, and 1 Tbl lemon juice.
    Cook 6 hours on HIGH.

I always use more cinnamon and less sugar. It might still look soupy when the cooking time is up, but it thickens as it cools in the fridge. I have never canned it, but I am sure it would be yummy… wish I new how to can :o(

  17. For years I’ve made a peach custard pie for my son who is now 44. He really loves it so sometimes I have to make another. The recipe was my mothers so I grew up eating it too. The recipe calls for peaches, eggs and whipping cream with a hint of nutmeg. So very good. I’ll share the recipe if anyone wants it.
