Chocolate Banana Smoothies

I will start by admitting that chocolate banana smoothies are not the healthiest smoothie, but they are so good. I do make healthy smoothies, but I will admit I also make unhealthy, more dessert like smoothies.

My kids love it when I serve chocolate banana smoothies as part of lunch or even as a snack or dessert. Really, I think my kids would eat these anytime.

I love smoothies because not only do they taste good, they are quick, easy, and frugal.

What is your favorite kind of smoothie to make?

  1. We tried something similar one time. My kiddos decided they did not like the chocolate / yogurt combo. Maybe it was the kind of yogurt I was using. I can’t remember for sure.

  2. I make smoothies all the time around here. I like to serve them like milkshakes when we’re having burgers and things like that. I pretty much use whatever is in the house – no exact measurements. We tend to like frozen strawberries, bananas, blueberries, pineapple, cranberry/grape juice, and yogurt (usually vanilla or plain). However, I’ll toss in any leftover bits of fruit that we’ve got in the house. I also add spinach and flax seed or wheat germ. I love to boost the nutritional content when I can. I fill my blender completely full — sometimes twice. Any leftovers go into popsicle molds and get frozen for later.

I’ve also made a smoothie much like yours above. My kids like peanut butter so, with a nod to Elvis, I add a little bit of that in with the banana and chocolate.

  3. Alex Hall says:

We make these as well, but we don’t use ice cubes.

I put these in the healthy category…..as long as you limit the amount of syrup. We use just enough to change the color of the milk slightly. Paired with some toast and maybe an egg, it’s a fairly well rounded breakfast.

  4. These look good to me! I’d love one right now. 🙂 I use frozen bananas in smoothies, too. I’ve also made some with coconut milk vs yogurt. So amazing!

  5. Love chocolate and bannana’ combination. Sounds delish. I am not a fan of yogurt but the coconut milk mentioned below would be delish!

  6. That Chocolate Banana Smoothie is sooooo delicous!my whole family liked it!(btw im 14!)

  7. Smoothies are a wonderful meal for kids, but also for those who are already grown up. Sometimes, it is difficult to choose which smoothies to do, but regardless of how healthy they are, most of them taste very well, including this one. All it takes is a really good blender (and that is easy to find) and the necessary ingredients.

  8. Great smoothies. I’m using them for a smoothie flavor for homecoming this week in the smoothie shack.
