Today I am answering a few of the questions that you all asked a few weeks ago. I decided that a couple of the questions would make good posts on their own, so watch for those coming up over the next few weeks.
Here are a few I thought I would tackle today.
Julie asked: I love making apple pies and was wondering if you have a recipe for gluten-free pie crusts.
Yes, Julie I actually just found one that I like and I posted about it earlier this week in my allergy section. And for those of you that are not gluten free, I have a really good regular pie crust that I love and used to make all the time. I love pie, so look for some new recipes coming up for the holidays.
Nicole asked: You seem to use your crock pot a lot (which I would like to do more of…) so how about some “basic rules” for using the crock
Nicole you are right, I love my crock pot. In fact I own three of them. They save me so much time on busy days and I have a whole section of recipes on my site devoted just to crock pot cooking. I have had several readers ask me about crock pot cooking lately and I hope to put together a post soon with tips for using them. I did post a tip about how a watched crock pot does not cook last year. And this tip really does help. Look for a more detailed post coming soon.
Geraldine asked: If I where using yeast from a package and your recipe calls for 2 tsp how many packages do we use.
Great question Geraldine. Here is what the Red Star Yeast website states:
Each 1/4 oz. packet contains approximately 2 1/4 teaspoons of yeast. Note: Yeast is packaged by weight. The measure may vary slightly between 2 and 2 1/4 teaspoons depending upon the particle size of the yeast.
So, 2 teaspoons of yeast would be one package and I think that is pretty standard with all brands.
