Watermelon and Peaches… it’s going to be a long winter without them!

Fresh Iowa sweet corn and tomatoes straight from my mom’s garden.

I just got back home from vacation where we visited my family in Iowa. I gorged on both of the above until I could eat no more. 🙂 mmmmmmm

Watermelon which is my favorite fruit and has been since my Granny let me have my first taste when I was only a couple days old. But I will also miss those wonderful garden tomatoes. Nothing better than a fresh from the garden tomato sandwich or tomato tart. Same for cucumbers I could eat them all day.

Sweet corn on the cob from a certain farm in the upper part of the lower peninsula in Michigan. I’m sure other farms have just as good corn but I bought enough this year so that I could freeze some of it for dinner during the winter. That and the local fresh fruit that you can get this time of year that don’t have to be grown in a hothouse and shipped in
