What Is It Wednesday: Santa Claus Melon

Many of you guessed exactly what last week’s What Is It Wednesday was. It was a Santa Claus Melon also known as a Christmas Melon.

I loved this melon. It might just be my new favorite melon. It was so sweet and juicy. It is hard to even describe. It tastes like a melon, but very mild and sweet. It reminds me a little like a honey dew, but so much milder and with a better texture.

They are only available for a short time during the summer and are grown mainly in California, Arizona, and parts of Texas. They are called Santa Clause Melons because they were originally imported from South America and were available in North America during the winter and holiday season.

If you are able try a Santa Claus Melon I recommend that you give it a try.
