Pesto, Cheese, Turkey Sandwich

My basil plant is doing very well this year. I planted it in the ground instead of in a pot. I am glad I did because it has done great. I am picking a lof of basil and I am using it to make pesto. I have tried a few new ways to use pesto. I tried pesto rice. Let’s just say it was not […]

Ground Beef Stroganoff

This is a great simple recipe. It contains ingredients that I usually have on hand. This recipe comes from the cookbook “Country Ground Beef”. This cookbook was published by Reiman Publications in the early to mid 1990’s. This book is no longer published. The newer version is not as good. If you ever see this book used, pick it up. It contains many simple and […]

Quick and Easy Chocolate Dessert

I found a new favorite, quick, and easy chocolate dessert. This is one of the best quick desserts I have ever made. I enjoy making fancy desserts. I like to try new recipes and enjoy taking the time to make them, but in reality, most days I don’t have the time it takes to make them. I need easy things to make. This is perfect […]

Black Bean Burgers

I started making black bean burgers quite a few years ago when we were living on a very tight budget. They are cheap to make because they are meatless. I continue to make them because they are frugal but also because they are healthy, quick and easy, and good.

Tuna Burgers

This is a great frugal meal. It is quick and easy. It says it serves four. We have a family of five and I usually double it and make six burgers. This recipe came from a Taste Of Home magazine from 1993 or 1994. I just love the old Taste Of Home recipes. For more frugal tuna recipes see frugalupstate. I usually like to post […]

Pasta With Easy Meat Sauce

This is a recipe for a quick and easy pasta dish. This takes 30 minutes or less to cook. It is a great recipe to use for dinner if you have had a busy day. I prefer to use recipes like this to using a jar of spagetti sauce. I do occasionally use the jarred sauce in some things but when a recipe is this […]

Frittata

I really like making Frittatas. I think they are a pretty cheap dinner even with the price of eggs right now. It is not only frugal, but quick and easy. I usually serve this with a vegetable and a bread. But the great thing about them is they are so versatile. You can add ham, bacon, or any vegetable. Onions or mushrooms are also good. […]

Skillet Bow Tie Lasagna

This is a great one pot, quick, and easy dinner. I love this recipe when you need to make dinner in 30 minutes or less. You can have this on the table in 30 minutes. If you add salad you have a great meal. Recipes like this are great for busy days. Most of the ingredients are things you usually have on hand.

Frugal Dinner-Salmon Burgers

I apologize for the picture above. It is not the best quality, but by the time I discovered the poor quality of the picture the salmon burgers were long gone. This burger/sandwich is very good and inexpensive to make. You can usually find canned salmon on sale for a good price. I get mine in a four pack at Sam’s club. I think the quality […]

Quick and Easy Pasta Dinner

I made a quick and easy pasta recipe last night for dinner. It only took about 15 minutes to cook. While the pasta cooked I worked on the rest of the ingredients. I served it with bread that I had made earlier in the day.
